vi Message from the Director, SEAMEO Secretariat It gives me great pleasure to congratulate SEAMEO RECSAM for organising the 13th Regional Congress: Search for SEAMEO Young Scientists (SYSS). Since its inception, SEAMEO RECSAM has been a steadfast champion in providing a platform for students and teachers alike to converge and exchange invaluable experiences in the realm of science and mathematics education. This congress, themed "Youth for One Health through STEM Innovation," represents a unique opportunity to inspire and empower our future generation to harness the power of STEM in creating innovative solutions for a better world. With more than half of the world's seven billion inhabitants falling under the age of thirty, it becomes increasingly apparent that the youth hold the key to our collective future. As we move towards progress, we must strive for a healthier world, recognizing that the health of the people are closely linked to the health of our environment. Thus, we commend this activity for highlighting One Health and utilizing STEM in achieving a healthier world. We at SEAMEO recognise the important role young minds play in shaping our world, from innovations to policy development. To ensure our sustainable development and resilience in the face of evolving challenges, it is imperative that we tap into the boundless creativity and ingenuity of our youth. The SYSS Congress serves as an opportunity for young minds to go beyond their classrooms and embark on a journey of innovation and discovery. Through collaborative efforts and shared experiences, participants cultivate essential teamwork skills and embody the spirit of SEAMEO's commitment to nurturing youth excellence. Armed with this knowledge and inspiration, the next generation is poised to tackle the pressing interconnected challenges of our time, guided by the One Health approach, a vision of sustainable development, and a steadfast determination to forge a brighter future. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all students and teacher advisors from SEAMEO Member Countries who have joined us in this endeavour. Your dedication and participation are invaluable contributions to the success of the SYSS 2024 Congress.
