About the Journal

Journal of Science and Mathematics Education in Southeast Asia (JSMESEA) is the official journal of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) for Regional Centre for Education in Science and Mathematics (RECSAM). The Journal serves as a medium for the exchange of ideas and the dissemination of information in science, mathematics and technology education for a wide range of readership.

RECSAM has been actively publishing quality papers relevant to the teaching and learning of science and mathematics at the primary and secondary levels and the areas of teacher-education for the past 45 years. JSMESEA is published once annually in December and all manuscripts are double-blind peer reviewed before publication.

Articles published in the journal are papers reporting results of original research, reviews on specific topics not available elsewhere in up-to-date form, and short communication in which advances in knowledge of significance are briefly announced.

Submission of paper is taken to imply that it has not been submitted to other journals and that, if accepted, will not be published elsewhere. All papers submitted for publication in JSMESEA are evaluated by subject matter experts and go through editorial revision. JSMESEA uses anonymous reviewing, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential.

JSMESEA publishes the following types of article:

1. Full Research article

Full research article is an original research focus with clear articulation of its significance, a scientifically acceptable methodology, and critical analysis and discussion of the findings. The components of the article consist of Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Acknowledgement and References. The article should be typed in A4 size paper and within 15 pages or 4,500 - 6,500 words (including figures and tables). Papers, in English with spelling conforming to the Concise Oxford Dictionary of Current English, should be typed in Times New Roman font at 12-point size, one and a half spaced with margins on all four sides of 2 cm on standard A4 paper.

2. Review Article

A review article summarises and evaluates the current state of understanding on a specific research topic. It is based on previously published research and does not contain new results. They can be of three types: literature reviews, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. The article should neither exceed 1,500 words (approximately 6 pages) nor be divided up into conventional sections. When submitting a Review Article, authors should make it clear that their work is to be treated as such.
